Cut 15

This is one of my favorite pictures. The dancer in this photo, Bonnie Boiter-Jolley, is performing a piece from a few years back. This comes from the same dance that I took my favorite photo. Although Bonnie doesn’t seem to think this photo is all that great, it speaks to me.

I think this photo represents how I feel most days. I feel like I sit in my room alone with my hands up to the Most High and plead with Him, why is our life like it is? Why is human sex trafficking a real fear? Why does racism still flourish?

But, it is at this point that I know why. We want to blame God for this or that, and we never seem to want to take responsibility for our own actions. Instead, we say things like the devil made me do it. It is sad that we cannot take responsibility for our actions and be accountable for our behaviors. There is no one to blame but ourselves.
